Attach the Hood Picker to your engine hoist and one person can easily remove (and install) vehicle hoods and trunk decks. Position the “fingers” and adjust the pivoting tilt and then remove the bolts. The hood or trunk is now held securely by the picker. Roll it out of your way. Reinstall by reversing the steps. Removing a Hood or Trunk Lid Alone
Hoods and trunk decks are awkward, heavy and easy to scratch, which is why removing one usually takes two people. The Hood Picker changes that. It mounts on most cherry pickers, so the engine hoist you already own becomes a hood lift. Set the fingers, adjust the pivoting tilt to balance the panel, then remove the bolts while the picker holds it. When the job is done, reverse the steps to set the hood back on its hinges. It opens to 60 inches long and 36 inches wide, folds to just under 36 inches, and weighs only 12 lbs, so it stores easily between projects. Pair it with an E-Z Spin rotisserie for full restorations.
